Dr. Matthew Duggan received his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 2015. He then went on to complete an internship in internal medicine at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR. Following his internship, Dr. Duggan completed an ophthalmology residency at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, OR. He completed his formal training with a year-long fellowship program in Glaucoma at Duke University in Durham, NC.
Dr. Duggan specializes in the surgical management and treatment of glaucoma. He offers the newest MIGS, or minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, including the iStent. Additionally, he routinely performs more traditional glaucoma surgeries such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma tube shunt surgery, laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) and laser iridotomy.
Dr. Duggan also has a special focus on custom cataract surgery. He routinely implants premium intraocular lenses, including toric and multi-focal lenses, to help patients reduce their dependency on glasses. Furthermore, he utilizes the femtosecond laser to perform laser cataract surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Duggan enjoys spending his free time with his family in the outdoors, especially hiking and cycling, as well as watersports, ultimate frisbee, and woodworking.
